JCPenney and BlogHer’s Beautyhacks gave me a much needed makeover

Last month Susan Wagner from BlogHer’s Beauty Hacks asked me and 7 other Oklahoma bloggers if we would like $300 to shop the JCPenney fall line. The collective answer was yes yes, heck yes. I may have even sprained my fingers typing yes so fast.

I will admit that I was nervous about this shopping spree. I am a plus sized petite woman who has a hard time finding clothes that fit and that look good. Because as much as I love my grandmothers, I do not want to dress like them.

So I spent some time on JCPenney’s website to see if they had anything I would be interested in. It didn’t take long for me to fill up my online cart with $300 worth of merchandise. So the next step was to actually go to the store and try things on. Which I did. While dragging my sister along with me. She was such a good sport.

So when the day finally came to meet up with Susan and fellow blogger Ammie to do some shopping, I was very excited to get going. I may have even been an hour early.

I have never tried on so many clothes in my life. That dressing room was packed. Let’s just say that if there was a rule about only taking so many items into the dressing room with you at one time, then we totally stomped all over that rule and made our own.

Here are a few of the items that I brought home with me.

This blouse and gray trousers might be my favorite. I also got these same pants in black and the same shirt in purple. Yay me.
And since purple is the new black I also got these

I love the way I feel when I walk in that skirt. So girly.
Then there’s this red sweater that I think just looks great on me.

And let’s not forget the most popular of fall colors, brown. Here is a great striped shirt I bought that has both brown and black stripes in it so that I can wear it with the black or brown pants I bought.

There’s a few more items not pictured here. I got a lot of stuff because I knew how to work my $300 budget. It also helped that every single item was on sale. As in I saved $150 according to my receipt because of the wonderful sales going on.

I must tell you ladies, that before this I never shopped at JCPenney’s. I was so sure that they had nothing in my style or size that was worth looking at. And if not for this amazing opportunity, I would have just kept on thinking that.

But I loved their selections so much that I have been back twice to get more stuff. So that’s saying something.

Thank you Susan, Beauty Hacks, and JCPenney for this opportunity. I am loving my new wardrobe.
