So I posted this on my flickr yesterday, but I figured I’d go ahead and blog about it today because I’m just that frustrated about it.
At BlogHer Bounce gave out these seemingly awesome dryer bars. They smelled good and would supposedly last up to 4 months (or 2 months depending on which bar you got) and all seemed awesome. My clothes came out smelling great and how nice not to have to worry about dryer sheets with each load.
That is until yesterday when I went to get my clothes out of the dryer. This was about the 12th load of laundry I’ve done with the dryer bar. And well, it came unstuck from the inside of the dryer. And then it separated itself from the plastic. And the bar broke in half and then crumbled all over the place leaving behind residue on all of my clothes as well as the inside of my dryer. And then the sticky stuff that is supposed to keep it attached to your dryer stuck itself to one of my bras instead.
Now I have no idea how to get all of this sticky stuff off of my bra. And what do I do about my clothes? Do I wash them again and hope it comes out?
I know I’m terrible at laundry and I wash and dry things that most people wouldn’t. However, I always use the lowest heat setting on my dryer for everything. And because I’m lazy as hell I only end up doing maybe 2-3 loads of laundry per week. And before I stuck this load in? I hadn’t done laundry for 5 whole days. So I just don’t get how the bar came unstuck. I mean, surely this product was tested over and over again in their labs right? I mean surely they did back to back loads of laundry to make sure this bar concept was a good idea right?
I’ve gone online and found numerous sites of reviews for this product. I was shocked at how many people had this problem the very first time they used the bar.
Come on Bounce, surely you had to know this.
So anyways, I know a lot of you probably are using this bar since we got them for free. I just wanted to warn you. And anyone else who thinks it might be a good idea. Stick to dryer sheets. Sure they might get stuck in your pants leg and fall out at an awkward time, but at least your clothes won’t look like you got deodorant all over them.
Bounce Dryer Bar = FAIL

I haven’t tried mine out yet and now I think it will stay unused…

I gave mine to my mom since I live in an apt with shared laundry. What an epic fail!

Maybe they should replace the sticky stuff on the back with a magnet?

I got a free one from BlogHer as well and it’s in my dryer RIGHT NOW. I haven’t had this happen yet, but I think to make sure it doesn’t happen, I’m going to take it out. What a pain in the butt!
I would absolutely write Tide a letter, heck send them your post URL and complain – or visit their website and leave them a complaint there. They need to know that this is happening!
Use your consumer voice girl – haven’t you been on Twitter lately ;)

try ironing your bra with a light cloth between the iron and your bra. it might come off that way?

That is so dissappointing! I just saw an ad for that thing and got all excited (that’s how you know you’re getting old, excitement over household cleaning products) and was planning on buying one. No offense, but I’m glad this happened to you so that I know not to buy one…sorry.
